Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Auditions: Saturday, Oct. 22 by appointment (Grades 4 to 8) at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (98 Hayden Rowe St.)

* Student in grades 2 to 3 do not need to audition. All that’s required is to sign up.
* Students in grades 4 to 8 should prepare one verse of any song of their choice that best showcases their vocal abilities. Auditions are scheduled in 30 minute blocks (10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.). To schedule your child’s audition, please email Sandee Buckley at:
Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, October 25.

Rehearsals will be held on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Performances will take place the last weekend of January 2017.

For Adult/Teen performers (with one male role 8 y/o-12 y/o)

Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, BIG FISH centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

Overflowing with heart, humor and spectacular stagecraft, BIG FISH is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and BIGGER than life itself.

You should prepare a 32-bar cut of any standard musical theatre song that best showcases your singing ability. (Please, no songs from rock operas). A headshot is helpful but not required. Callbacks will be on Sunday, December 4th.

Big Fish Characters

john-wayland-somersMeet the Director of Big Fish: John Wayland Somers

Originally from the Northern Virginia/DC area, John is thrilled to be making his New England directorial debut with Enter Stage Left Theater. He was awarded ‘Most Innovative Director’ at the Maryland State One-Act Play Festival for Port Tobacco Theatre’s production of Sure Thing. He has also directed for Port City Playhouse and Secondstage Theatre. Favorite acting roles have included Tom Sawyer (Big River), Damis (Tartuffe), Bernard (Death of a Salesman), Trinculo (The Tempest) and Eddie Ryan (Funny Girl).

John is a founding member of Human Experience Theatre, an interactive theatre-based training model that dramatizes sensitive subject matters for universities, corporate and non-profit organizations in the United States. Having received his MFA in Acting from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Professional Theatre Training Program (PTTP), John is also a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA.

Rehearsals will be Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings beginning in January. Performances will be March 24 – 26 & March 31 – April 2nd, 2017. Due to the tech-heavy nature of the show, performers should be prepared to make themselves available for two weeks of tech/dress rehearsals prior to the opening performance.
